Midsummer Night's Dream

The Dance Works School is presenting its annual show. This year the students are performing a ballet of "Midsummer Night's Dream" on the 30th April at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre at 19:30.

A Midsummer Night's Dream has been the inspiration of stories and pictures of fairies for the last 400 years. For 200 years only adaptations of the play were put on. Modern productions tend to depict the wood people as over erotic, savage and sinister. The play is not so much a story but about ideas. The film "Dead Poets Society" used the play as a basis to show young people choosing nonconformity.

A film version of Midsummer Night's Dream was produced by FOX starring Michelle Pfeifer and Rupert Everet.
