"Echodrasi" Percussion group

 

"Echodrasi" Percussion Group was formed in 1996 by Nikos Touliatos mostly as an experiment of sounds and colours of percussion instruments, be well-known or just objects that produce interesting sounds.

 

"Echodrasi" are famous for their improvisation and instrumental sound. There are thirteen members that use instruments from all over the world, both contemporary and non-conventional like electronics.

 

They have performed in festivals and conventions as in "The European Centre of Delfi"  and in theatrical plays including "King Lear" at the Herodion Roman Theatre in Athens.

 

Nikos Touliatos
Nikos Touliatos was born in 1955 in Corinth - Greece. He taught himself to play the drums in 1977 and later studied with Professor Nikos Koratzinos at the Athens Conservatory. He has toyed with various musical styles and played with numerous musicians and composers in different music fields.

 

His instruments consist of the drums and Greek traditional percussion instruments, timpani, cymbals, custom-made instruments as well as various objects used to produce unique sounds. He has played in festivals such as the World Festival of Contemporary Music in Vienna, The Glasgow Opera, The Festival of Lille in Belgium, The Roote Liede Festival of Berlin and The Edinburg Festival.

 

The group will perform on the 4th and 5th March at the Limassol Pattichion Theatre and the Nicosia Municipal Theatre respectively.
